Dr. David Friedman, CEO/President
Chews-4-Health

On this health segment of Lifetime’s “The Balancing Act,” Dr. David Friedman talks to actress, author and cancer survivor Suzanne Somers. Suzanne speaks about the need for healthy living as prevention, and discusses her controversial book “Knockout.”

Dr. Friedman agrees with Suzanne and is a believer in Alternative Medicine. “People need to focus on wellness care not illness care”.

Actress and New York Times best-selling author Suzanne Somers has had her fair share of experience with cancer. She was diagnosed in 2000 with breast cancer and later had another cancer scare involving a terrifying misdiagnosis. Now, in her new book, “Knockout,” she shares her story and interviews with doctors about treatment options.

Fitness author Jon Benson has given TheHolistic.com permission
to share this great article with you.

Let's start off by talking about your hormones.

Yep, that's right I like talking a lot about hormones.
Because I have been to Hormone Hell and back. Twice now.

I've lived to tell you the tale.

It's scary... because it's one of those hidden illnesses
that you might not even know you have acquired.

I had it at age 27. It did not affect my lovelife directly,
but that was only due to my youth. If I did'nt treat it then,
I would no lovelife or drive at ALL right now.

I had to treated it with drugs. That is all we had way back then.

Today I use a combination of treatments, some of which are natural....

1. I weight-train to increase testosterone-levels naturally.

2. I do cardio before eating in the morning do increase gH levels
naturally without the use of drugs.

3. I cycle my calories intake to increase my thyroid levels naturally.

As you've seen there are many ways to increase your hormone levels naturally.

It's not all exercise and nutrition. Now there's several "botanical"
supplements: Herbs and other natural products to help win the fight.

I wish I would have met Dr. Lucille when I was 27.

She's an expert in that field of Herbs, nutrition for hormone help,
and how to protect your body IF you've taken drugs to help the problem
like I did.

I chose to listen to her. I recommend you do the same.

Here's her website:

The best thing about having your hormones optimized is energy you'll get.

And yes, you will burn more bodyfat.

You'll increase your lovelife and your desire to have more
intimacy in your life.

You'll be able increase your resistance to disease and common illnesses.

For Me MORE ENERGY is the best.

I have all sorts of energy to do anything I want at just about
any time I want.

Here's how:

Today I went to the funeral of a dear friend.
She passed away after struggling with a lifetime of various
illnesses, many of which were made worse by lifestyle
choices. Some she had no control over.

She was loved dearly.

We drove all night until 1:00AM this morning.
I got up early to go to the funeral but not early
enough to eat breakfast.

I ate a large lunch afterwards and then we headed back --
another 3 hour boring drive in traffic.

With all of this emotional stress, my body only needed
a 2-hour nap to pop right back into high gear.
I could literally go and workout now at almost 11:00pm if
I had to.

I'm glad I don't because I have a night of packing ahead of
me to get ready for a business trip!

The point is simple:

Hormone Health = Greater Energy ++++

Most people don't exercise because... get this....

They do not FEEL like doing it.

I don't mean "feel like doing it" as in they would
rather do something else, although that is the case sometimes.

I mean "feel like doing it" in the sense that they have NO
energy to do it.

Most are tired, run-down after a 9 to 5 day, and feel wiped out.

How about you?

If so, you need this...

More energy, more lovelife. More workouts that burn fat.

More done in the day. It's that simple.
More living in the best way you possible can.

I don’t know about you, but from time to time I have difficulty sleeping.

What I’ve noticed is that a full moon will definitely effect my sleep. If you’re having trouble sleeping, pay attention and see if it’s related to anything… like the cycles of the moon.

Here’s some information on how to improve your sleeping habits.  One of the best things that most everyone can do to improve their well-being is to moderate their sleeping patterns.  Unfortunately, poor sleep is a habit learned by just about everyone during the teenage years.  It is critical to allow your body the time it needs to wind down and relax so that you can be rejuvenated.  If you feel burned-out and tired during the day, when you awaken in the morning or exhausted before bedtime it is a sign that you are not getting the right amount of sleep.  This could be too much, or too little.  Yes believe it or not too much sleep can be a problem. Try setting aside eight hours for sleep each night, getting into bed no less than half an hour prior to the time that you want to be asleep.  If you’ll do this for a few weeks, you will find positive improvements in your overall health and productivity.

If you’re feeling tired right now… log off and go to bed.. you need it. :)

Try a homeopathic approach to ADD.

Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) is becoming one of the most commonly issued diagnoses among young children and adolescents today. Unfortunately, the treatment options are limited and most include the use of strong medications with terrible side effects. A better approach might be to treat only the symptoms that are present, and to treat in order to prevent the appearance of new symptoms. Homeopathic treatment includes not only natural medicines, but psychological counseling as well. The goal is to treat the patient, and not the disease. There are many traditional physicians who will work with you to develop a homeopathic treatment plan, and many holistic physicians who specialize in this type of treatment.

Improve your posture.

It is important to keep your spine as straight as possible, so that your muscles do not strain and contract unnecessarily.
Also, in order to keep energy circulating throughout your body, it is important to keep your spine straight and nerves unhindered.

Breathe mindfully.

The process of mindful breathing is a form of meditation; however it is also a great way to get more oxygen into your blood and tissues.  If you start right now and pay attention to how you are breathing, it is more than likely that you will find yourself breathing quite shallowly.  This is not a healthy breathing pattern. You can start out by just inhaling completely and then slowly exhaling completely.  If you take one minute to just do this focused breathing each day, you will find that you feel better during that minute.  And, you will catch yourself paying attention to your breathing several times throughout the day.  Taking deep breathes will help you relieve stress and help with your over-all health. If you are stressed or tired, take a minute out of your day to breathe mindfully.

Breath in through your nose and slowly exhale through your mouth.

You can also use this as a way to bring positive energy into your body and release the negative energies.
As you breath in think positive thoughts as you exhale release all your negative stress, feelings, thoughts or situations.

If you have breathing exercises or suggestions, we’d like to hear them.  Be sure to leave us a comment!

Get more Vitamin D.  Supplements are one way to increase your Vitamin D intake, however quite honestly the best way to get this nutrient is from sunshine. The human body synthesizes Vitamin D that is absorbed through the skin when exposed to sunlight. Many people are not getting the sun exposure that they require because of the risk of skin cancer; however in moderation – about 5 minutes a day – sunlight is very beneficial.

So get out and start sunbathing today!!

The Holistic is commited to helping you achieve abundance in all areas of your life.
We’d like your feedback on the concept of abundance and we invite you to attend the
Virtual Abundance Expo.

Abundance
Entrepreneurs commonly use the catch-phrase “thinking
BIG,” but they really mean the same thing.

Abundance is tough to define because it’s one of those
unique ideas that must be experienced to really be
understood … it can’t just be explained.

Yet the most encouraging part of adopting an abundance
mindset is how it can connect you to people with totally
different set of beliefs and values.

It instantly sustains inclusivity even with people who
are dramatically different.

POP QUIZ: What do Mother Theresa and Donald Trump
have most in common?

The answer is their abundance mind-set.

Donald Trump says, “If you’re going to think anyway,
you might as well think big.”

Mother Theresa said: “The more we discover the
magnitude and abundance of God’s gifts, the more we
will find ourselves.”

Again, the abundance mindset creates connections.

Bucky Fuller had this to say about the abundance mindset:

“The condition of planet earth is abundance. Our belief in
either scarcity or abundance determines how our financial,
legal, political and military systems are set up or exist at all.

Scarcity and abundance are foundational and contextual ideas.
They each give rise to a distinct system of thought and a number
of rules, characteristics and measures which only make sense
within their own system.”

Above all, the abundance-mindset is a choice. In other
words, you choose to look through the lens of scarcity, or
through the lens of abundance. There is no in-between.

“Do … or do not. There is no try.” ~ Yoda

Because there are are so many differing opinions about
abundance, my colleagues and I have decided to conduct
this worldwide survey get more opinions – your opinion – on
this highly debated topic.

My JV partners, Alex Mandossian and Scott Martineau are
hosting the Virtual Abundance Expo next week, so I figured
this a great opportunity to host a survey and attract the
best single sentence that clearly defines abundance.

What to do now: Please use the comment box to write your
definition of abundance. The survey ends at 5pm PDT on
Monday, July 27th, right before Jack Canfield’s keynote
speech for the Virtual Abundance Expo.

All the definitions will be gathered and tallied the next day
and five finalists will be chosen for the final vote.

If you are one of the five finalists, your definition of abundance
will be personally evaluated by our Virtual Abundance Expo faculty.

The top vote-getter with the clearest and most concise definition
of abundance will be personally interviewed by Scott and Alex as
a honorary faculty member for Virtual Abundance Expo.

So what do you say … are you game?

If you are game, then take a peek at these 9 abundance quotes
to get your heart and mind moving…

“The only factor becoming scarce in a world of abundance is
human attention”

~ Kevin Kelly in Wired

“Nothing amuses me more than the easy manner with which
everybody settles the abundance of those who have a great deal
less than themselves.”

~ Jane Austen (1775 – 1817)

Abundance is, in large part, an attitude” ~ Sue Patton Thoele

Abundance of knowledge does not teach men to be wise”

~ Heraclitus (540 BC – 480 BC)

“The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the
abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide
enough for those who have too little”

~ Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882 – 1945)

“Unfortunately, the balance of nature decrees that a super-
abundance of dreams is paid for by a growing potential for
nightmares”

~ Peter Ustinov (1921 – 2004)

Abundance is not something we acquire. It is something
we tune into”

~ Wayne Dyer

Now it’s your turn … type in what you feel abundance means to
you. Go ahead … the simple act of thinking about it will instantly
improve your day.
